Adobe Flash, formerly Macromedia Flash, is a popular multimedia application, which uses vector-based, streaming data to produce animation, graphics, audio, and interactivity. Flash also refers to Flash Player that is a virtual machine used to run the Flash files. The latter is also called "flash movies" and can be embedded into Web pages.

One of Flash features is the support to ActionScript. This scripting language is used to add interactivity to Web pages and turns out to be easier to use and edit than the manual creation of animation.
