Computer Systems

A Computer System includes the hardware, operating system, application programs, and users. The hardware, which provides the basic computing resources, includes the central processing unit (CPU), memory, and input/output (I/O) devices. The application programs of a computer system could include word processors, spreadsheet programs, graphic editors, etc. These applications are operated by the users to solve computing problems and complete tasks quickly and accurately. Users could be people, and other computers or machines. A personal computer is an example of a computer system. In general, one could say a computer system is a combination of hardware and software working together.
